What are tarot cards and what do they mean?

Tarot is a deck of 78 cards full of symbolism: 22 cards of the Major Arcana and 56 of the Minor Arcana. Each card brings a different theme to a reading — from feelings and relationships to everyday challenges and opportunities.

The meaning of a reading comes from how the cards combine and how they relate to your question. That’s why the same card can mean something different depending on your situation and the other cards in the spread.

The meaning of a tarot card also depends on its place in the spread.
